Up

Dir. Pete Docter, Bob Peterson. Ed Asner, Christopher Plummer, Jordan Nagai, Delroy Lindo.

Alright, so I'm way late with this one (it screened at Cannes last year to rave reviews) but - surprise, surprise - I still haven't seen it. And it got nominated for a Best Picture Oscar, so I may as well.

It's Pixar - the greatest union of creative and technical excellence since Apple. I should so be a copywriter. Right? Right? But it's true. Pixar are consistently wonderful. Okay, except for Cars, that wasn't amazing. But other than that.

In Up, an old widower (Asner) uproots his inner-city house with millions of balloons and floats off to South America, presumably against the prevailing winds somehow. Anyway, a young boy scout is accidentally taken with him. Adventures ensue - but apparently it's the first ten minutes that'll blow you away.

I'm really looking forward to seeing this.

Saw "Up" a while ago. My toddler (our little ignoramus) watches it over and over. Mme Ignorante does too. It's fantastic. One of the best films ever. And yes, the first ten minutes WILL blow you away, with possibly the greatest montage in the history of cinema. Triumphant.
